Goose
Kit: Lindberg AO9 Goose Scale: 1/48My entry for the GRL GB.
The Kit
What can you say about a Lindburg kit that hasn’t been said or cried over yet. How about, a Lindberg kit needs no introduction; only patience, filler, and a sense of humor. Challenge accepted.
The Build
I had forgotten how thick and soft the styrene is on this kit.
Glue has been slung.

I put together a quick draft of the livery with the silhouette, the reg number, and the green color I picked, just to see how it all looked together. After staring at it for a bit (and fighting with the blade), I decided to ditch the Godzilla idea and go with the radiation symbol instead.
I’ll be doing it in black since I can’t print white, and I also changed the registration format from a U.S. style to Costa Rican. The new reg number is TI-GRL.

The surgery was a success. I was able to remove the backs of the wheels to put them in place for the wheels-up look, and I was worried the process of removing the back of the wheel was going to deform it.
After countless test prints to match the green as closely as possible, I finally achieved a near-perfect match. Once the decal was applied and dried, though, it shifted to a blue tint. Dang.
Testing the stand I 3D-printed. This one is version two; the other is just a simple low-profile cradle.
This build has taken a different path than I initially imagined, and while it’s complete, I’m not entirely satisfied with the outcome. If I were to undertake this project again, I would approach the build process with a different strategy. While I believe I have the imagination and vision for such projects, I acknowledge that my current skillset is the limiting factor.
Here’s a photo showing the model with all the masking tape removed.
