Rusted out '58 Edsel
Kit: AMT '58 Edsel Pacer Scale: 1/25This was the entry for the Tetanus GB
The kit
Built the Edsel as a full-on rust bucket, and honestly the kit lends itself pretty well to that treatment. It’s classic AMT: simple engineering, big body panels, and just enough detail to work with. Fit is decent but not perfect, so you’ll do a little persuading here and there — nothing unexpected for an older tooling.
The large, smooth body makes it a great canvas for weathering, rust, and faded paint effects, which really suits a beat-up survivor build like this. Interior and chassis details are basic, but that actually works in your favor if you’re going for a neglected, long-abandoned look. Overall, it’s a solid old-school kit with plenty of character, especially if you’re willing to get creative and rough it up a bit.
